Our team made an extremely important and emotional trip to the military who are currently serving in the Odesa region. This trip was not accidental - it was a continuation of our mission to support those who defend our country. Back in March, while serving in a hospital, I met one of the soldiers. After his discharge, we kept in touch from time to time, and recently he asked me again to bring them some goodies if we were in the area.
While in Zhmerynka, I realized that a trip to the military would be an opportunity to fulfill this request. Together with the local chaplains, we organized the trip, prepared the necessary supplies and set off. Sisters from the Zhmerynka church prepared some goodies for our soldiers to keep them in good spirits.
However, the road prepared its own challenges for us. About 30 kilometers before our destination, our car faced a serious problem - we broke the engine pan on a difficult stretch of road, which caused all the oil to leak out. Although this could have been a significant obstacle, unexpectedly, two drivers appeared on the deserted road and helped us pull the car to the nearest service station. It was a real miracle, because the road we stopped on hardly saw any cars passing by.
Although we arrived at the military late in the evening, we were greeted with great joy. That night we stayed overnight with the soldiers, and the morning began with a joint breakfast in the soldiers' canteen, sharing news and spiritual communion. The soldiers were especially grateful for the goodies and our support, and asked for our spiritual care.
This trip was another testimony to the importance of prayer, mutual assistance and reliable support in such difficult times. Despite all the difficulties, we were able to fulfill our mission and give the military a piece of warmth and care that they appreciate so much in these difficult times.
