Another chaplaincy rotation has come to an end at a military field hospital near the front lines.
The war is becoming increasingly brutal and deadly. Everything on the battlefield is being ground down — both what moves and what stands still.
The town where we serve is being relentlessly attacked by guided bombs and drones. There is hardly a day or night without shelling.
Reports have also emerged of a deadly infection spreading along the front. Due to constant drone attacks, the evacuation of wounded soldiers is often delayed, and medical personnel are seeing cases of gas gangrene — a devastating infection that destroys muscle tissue and can quickly become fatal.
The hearts of our soldiers carry immense fatigue, pain, and countless questions — questions for God, for people, and for life itself. More than ever, they need hope, spiritual support, sincere prayer, and the warmth of a caring human presence. Once again, we are reminded how vital chaplainy ministry is in places like these.
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this rotation through prayers, support, and practical assistance.
A special thank you goes to our wonderful volunteers who prepared homemade baked goods, treats, and care packages. Your love and generosity reach far beyond what words can express.
Being present with a wounded soldier, listening to his pain and hearing his heart, is far more real and significant than hearing complaints in the safety of the rear about being “tired of hearing about the war.”
Sometimes one wants to ask: “Are you really tired? Then spend a few days at a frontline hospital or visit the front itself. After that, you may never speak about being tired of the war again.”
Please continue to pray for Ukraine, for the wounded, for medical personnel, and for all those serving on the front lines.
