Chaplain conference, Kryvyi Rih

An important chaplaincy conference was recently held, dedicated to training and improving the knowledge and skills of chaplains who serve in military units and communities. The chaplains of our unit were also honored to undergo this training, which will help them to perform their mission even more effectively in the conditions of military service and difficult moral challenges.
The following topics were discussed during the conference:
- Who is a chaplain - a deep understanding of the role of a chaplain as a spiritual mentor and moral support in service conditions.
- Christian and weapons - a biblical view - analysis of the Bible's view on the issue of Christian participation in military operations.
- Tactics, characteristics and behavior of a chaplain on duty – practical advice on actions and ethics of a chaplain during service.
- Service of the chaplain in the community – the role of the chaplain in supporting the civilian population and the religious community.
- Grief notification about the death of a military person - features of communication with the relatives of the deceased and the importance of a delicate approach.
- The importance of creating a network of pastoral care - the formation of communities that provide moral support to both military personnel and their families.
The following important topics were also covered:
- Dialogue as a way of caring - how conversation can help support and heal a person in difficult circumstances.
- Counseling of people with moral trauma is an approach to people who have experienced severe psychological shocks.
- Going to serve: how to prepare family and loved ones for this choice and further challenges - preparation of the chaplain's family for the changes that his service brings.
- The chaplain's moral injuries – recognition and support of the chaplains themselves, who face difficult moral challenges.
- Methods and forms of service – discussion of different approaches to providing spiritual and moral assistance.
This training became an invaluable contribution to the further development of our chaplains, who are ready with new knowledge to continue their important mission of serving the military and their families.
